149 Eatery: Reviews & Ratings
Great ambiance! Dan, the owner was fantastic as was Kim and our server They were attentive and alot of fun. 30 oz ribeye and Cajun pasta were fantastic. Finished it off with ice cream. Went two times while in the area golfing at Rio Grande resort Strongly recommend. We will definitely be back
Great dinner! The service was friendly and fast. The food was tasty. Highlights included the trout, short rib, wedge salad, and mashed potatoes. The potsticker appetizer had an amazing sauce although I didn't care for the potstickers themselves. Had a nice wine too. Make a reservation.
They were welcoming but reservations are recommended. The servers were charming, informative, and attentive. The food was outstanding! Get the ribeye!
Exquisitely rustic….the food and atmosphere! The indoor dining area is perfect for a cozy, dress-up night while the outdoor patio is delightfully casual. The food is 5-star quality which was a huge surprise and not expected in this rustic setting. We didn’t have a reservation but they were able to squeeze us in and the service was on point. Highly recommend if you’re looking for fine dining while in the mountains.
We called for reservations but weren't able to reach anyone. We popped in anyway just hoping for a table, and they were able to accommodate (a reservation no-showed). We had the Truffle Fries, Chicken Fried Chicken, Seafood Bisque, and Beef Stroganoff. The Truffle Fries were good, though I expected a Truffle dust or seasoning on them. Instead it was a sauce that came on the side (still good, just different). My husband said the chicken was good and it was really nicely cooked, but the herbed potatoes could have used a little more herbs and seasoning. The Seafood Bisque was good, and the Beef Stroganoff was too. Some folks may get sticker shock at a few prices (Stroganoff was $28) but it's also important to keep in mind how remote and far from accessible suppliers this place is. I'm sure they get deliveries, but it's definitely out of the way. The waitress and owner were very kind and welcoming. The restaurant is attached to a busy gift shop/ice cream parlor and bathrooms are single-occupant only, which can be difficult during busy times, but it was clean. The music was a bit loud but I think we were fairly close to a speaker. Overall it was a good experience and I encourage others to give it a shot! Definitely call in advance for reservations, we just happened to be extremely fortunate.
Discover the perfect blend of flavors at this mountain retreat! From their mouthwatering short ribs to their bison burgers and tempura shrimp, this restaurant is sure to satisfy your cravings and leave you wanting more. My husband and I will definitely be back! Make sure to peruse the attached gift shop!
Had a delicious meal tonight. The crispy brussels sprouts were very flavorful. And it was suggested that instead of waffle fries with my bison burger, I should try the Southwest potato casserole. Yuummm!! Great service in a relaxed, fine dining establishment. I highly recommend.
It was our first time, with a family of 7. We loved everything about the 149 Eatery! The food was outstanding.......we had the bone-in ribeye, Chilean Sea Bass, Beef Short Ribs, Bison Burger and Lobster. We had NO complaints about any of it!!! We ordered 3 deserts, shared them between all 7 of us, and was still unable to eat it all! The owners are awesome and very personable. The service couldn't have been better. The gift shop, ice cream parlor and coffee bar exceeded any expectations. We will definitely be back!!!

Nestled in the scenic heart of Creede, Colorado, 149 Eatery offers an unexpected gem of refined dining amidst the rugged mountain landscape. This cozy restaurant blends a rustic ambiance with five-star culinary quality, making it a standout for both locals and travelers, especially those enjoying nearby attractions like the Rio Grande Resort.
At 149 Eatery, the atmosphere strikes a perfect balance: an intimate indoor dining area ideal for a dress-up night, and a casual outdoor patio that invites relaxed mountain air and conversation. The service is consistently praised as attentive and engaging, with owner Dan and his team adding a personal touch that elevates the entire experience.
The menu showcases thoughtfully prepared plates rooted in comfort food with elevated flavors. The 30 oz ribeye is a must-try—rich, perfectly cooked, and deeply satisfying. Equally impressive is the Cajun pasta, delivering a bold seasoning profile that stays true to its Southern influences. For seafood lovers, the trout and the seafood bisque highlight freshness and delicate balance, while the beef stroganoff offers hearty, classic warmth, though priced with mountain remoteness in mind.
Appetizers like the potstickers come with an unforgettable sauce, though opinions vary on the dumplings themselves, adding a nuanced layer to the tasting experience. The truffle fries present a twist by pairing with a dipping sauce rather than a dusting of seasoning, creating a different but enjoyable flavor profile. Side dishes such as herbed potatoes and mashed potatoes complement the mains, though seasoning might lean towards mild preferences.
Diners also benefit from a thoughtfully curated wine selection, enhancing meal pairings, and finish their visit with house-made ice cream—a sweet ending that consistently impresses visitors. While some practical considerations like limited restroom capacity exist, these are outweighed by the quality of food, warm hospitality, and unique setting.
Reservations come highly recommended due to the eatery's popularity, yet the staff’s welcoming nature means walk-ins may still find a table. For those seeking fine dining that embraces both rugged mountain charm and culinary sophistication, 149 Eatery is a destination worth returning to, time and again.
